
How to Fold your Gi…
Folding your gi properly makes it easier to carry after training and pack away. It is also part of the Kyokushin syllabus! In this step-by-step guide we show you how to fold your gi like a Shihan.
1. Lay your gi jacket on a flat surface.
2. Fold your gi trousers in half and lay them over your jacket, lining the waistband up with the top of your jacket.
3. Take one side and fold it over the gi trousers.
4. Repeat with the other side, tucking the arm in to create a neat rectangle. Then roll up your gi.
5. Fold your belt in half and lay it under your gi. Pass the ends through the loop and pull tight.
6. You can now carry your gi over your shoulder, or pack it up in your bag.
